Ignorance Is Bliss

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Peloser urged threatened her colleagues to back a major overhaul  screwing over of U.S. health care even if it threatens their political careers, a call to arms that underscores the issue's massive role in this election year.
Lawmakers sometimes must enact force policies on Americans that, even if unpopular at the moment, will help devastate the public, Pelosi said in an interview being broadcast Sunday the ABC News program "This Week."
"We're not here just to self-perpetuate our service (we just want our jobs for life) in Congress," she said. "We're here to do the a job for on the American people."
It took courage for Congress to pass Social Security and Medicare (both of which are collapsing), which eventually became highly popular and bankrupt, she said, "and many of the same forces that were at work decades ago are at work again against this bill (thank God)."
It's unclear whether Pelosi's remarks will embolden or chill piss off dozens of moderate House Democrats who face withering criticisms of the health care proposal in visits with constituents and in national polls. Republican lawmaker unanimously oppose the health care proposals (YES!!!), and many GOP strategists believe voters will turn against Democrats in the November elections (that's already happening).

Dateline Saturday, 2/27/2010, Frederick, MD at approximately 4:00 PM Eastern time:

Today I came within 10 feet of (P)resident Obama...really! I was about 10 miles north of Frederick, Maryland traveling back home after conducting some company business, when all of a sudden a line of vehicles consisting of U.S. Police, 3 black Chevy Suburbans and around 8-10 others vehicles all with lights flashing in a motorObamacade came barreling past at 70 MPH. The vehicles exited at Thurmont which is the entry to Catoctin Mountain, home of Camp David. I would say I came within spitting distance of Obama...the problem is, I forgot to spit as he went by.

Global Warming Revealed!

The real reason behind global warming has been revealed, as evidenced by these photos. Global Warming, also known as Gore-bular or Globular Warming is being reclassified as Climate Change so people like Fat Albert can say SOMETHING is happening to the weather. Well, it's known as 'climate cycles', a naturally-occurring phenomenon. This is all nothing more than a way to squeeze money out of the Gullible Gore Gang, also known as Fatuous Flab Fans of Algore.

In case people have forgotten, Algore owns the rights to Carbon Credits, which he created to line his flab-filled pockets. Why doesn't Fat Al blow some of his hot air on the 5 feet of snow we have piled next to our driveway?

Keep Irritating Us, Mr. (P)resident

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is putting forward a nearly $1 trillion, 10-year health care plan that would allow the government to deny or roll back egregious insurance premium increases that infuriated consumers.

Posted Monday morning on the White House Web site, the plan would provide coverage to more than 31 million Americans now uninsured without adding to the federal deficit.

It conspicuously omits a government insurance plan sought by liberals.

But it's uncertain that such an ambitions plan can pass, since Republicans are virtually all opposed and some Democrats who last year supported sweeping health care changes are having second thoughts. After a year in pursuit of his top domestic priority, Obama may have to settle for a modest fallback.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is making a fresh attempt to rescue his health care overhaul by proposing a measure that would allow the government to deny or roll back egregious insurance premium increases that infuriate consumers.

Nuke Him

Iran is evidently on the verge of developing a nuclear warhead. If that's true, and they make any move to launch it, we won't have to deal with them any longer. Look over your shoulder, Ahmadinejad...

The Shrimp Man

Contribution by Jim C

A Bucket of Shrimp

It happened every Friday evening, almost without fail, when the sun resembled a giant orange and was starting to dip into the blue ocean.

Old Ed came strolling along the beach to his favorite pier. Clutched in his bony hand was a bucket of shrimp. Ed walks out to the end of the pier, where it seems he almost has the world to himself. The glow of the sun is a golden bronze now.

Everybody's gone, except for a few joggers on the beach. Standing out on the end of the pier, Ed is alone with his thoughts....and his bucket of shrimp.

Before long, however, he is no longer alone. Up in the sky a thousand white dots come screeching and squawking, winging their way toward that lanky frame standing there on the end of the pier.

Before long, dozens of seagulls have enveloped him, their wings fluttering and flapping wildly. Ed stands there tossing shrimp to the hungry birds. As he does, if you listen closely, you can hear him say with a smile, 'Thank you. Thank you.'

In a few short minutes the bucket is empty. But Ed doesn't leave.

He stands there lost in thought, as though transported to another time and place. Invariably, one of the gulls lands on his sea-bleached, weather-beaten hat - an old military hat he's been wearing for years.

When he finally turns around and begins to walk back toward the beach, a few of the birds hop along the pier with him until he gets to the stairs, and then they, too, fly away. And old Ed quietly makes his way down to the end of the beach and on home.

If you were sitting there on the pier with your fishing line in the water, Ed might seem like 'a funny old duck,' as my dad used to say. Or, 'a guy that's a sandwich shy of a picnic,' as my kids might say. To onlookers, he's just another old codger, lost in his own weird world, feeding the seagulls with a bucket full of shrimp.

To the onlooker, rituals can look either very strange or very empty. They can seem altogether unimportant ....maybe even a lot of nonsense.

Old folks often do strange things, at least in the eyes of Boomers and Busters.

Most of them would probably write Old Ed off, down there in Florida . That's too bad. They'd do well to know him better.

His full name: Eddie Rickenbacker. He was a famous hero back in World War II. On one of his flying missions across the Pacific, he and his seven-member crew went down. Miraculously, all of the men survived, crawled out of their plane, and climbed into a life raft.

Captain Rickenbacker and his crew floated for days on the rough waters of the Pacific. They fought the sun. They fought sharks. Most of all, they fought hunger. By the eighth day their rations ran out. No food. No water. They were hundreds of miles from land and no one knew where they were.

They needed a miracle. That afternoon they had a simple devotional service and prayed for a miracle. They tried to nap. Eddie leaned back and pulled his military cap over his nose. Time dragged. All he could hear was the slap of the waves against the raft.

Suddenly, Eddie felt something land on the top of his cap. It was a seagull!

Old Ed would later describe how he sat perfectly still, planning his next move. With a flash of his hand and a squawk from the gull, he managed to grab it and wring its neck. He tore the feathers off, and he and his starving crew made a meal - a very slight meal for eight men - of it. Then they used the intestines for bait.. With it, they caught fish, which gave them food and more bait......and the cycle continued. With that simple survival technique, they were able to endure the rigors of the sea until they were found and rescued (after 24 days at sea..).

Eddie Rickenbacker lived many years beyond that ordeal, but he never forgot the sacrifice of that first lifesaving seagull.. And he never stopped saying, 'Thank you.' That's why almost every Friday night he would walk to the end of the pier with a bucket full of shrimp and a heart full of gratitude.

PS: Eddie was also an Ace in WW I and started Eastern Airlines.

Thank God for what He gives you everyday, no matter how insignificant it seems.

Reconciliation Is Bad Medicine

Reconciliation is an attempt at forcing health care reform through without any Republican votes. Don't let the names fool you; it reconciles nothing but selfish liberal attitudes toward their own selfish agendas.

Reconciliation is seldom-used and controversial tactic that allows bills to be passed in the Senate with only a simple majority of votes, and Democrats said this week they are considering it as part of a plan to push through their stalled health care reform legislation in the face of entrenched Republican opposition. It may sound like an upbeat outcome to a messy quarrel, but "reconciliation" is hardly a smooth political solution on Capitol Hill.

Reconciliation is a seldom-used and controversial tactic that allows bills to be passed in the Senate with only a simple majority of votes, and Democrats said this week they are considering it as part of a plan to push through their stalled health care reform legislation in the face of entrenched Republican opposition.

"I think a decision has just been made -- we're just going to go ahead" with a reconciliation bill, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, told reporters on Friday.

So what is reconciliation and why has it been described as political dynamite?

Under reconciliation,, 51 senators can amend a bill, bypassing the need for a 60-vote majority to hold off Republican delaying tactics, in particular a filibuster. Debate is limited to a maximum of 20 hours.
But legislation passed by reconciliation can only affect budget revenue, government spending and taxes.

And given that it has the potential to diffuse one of the few weapons in the minority party's arsenal, it generally has been seen as a tactic of last resort.

House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, R-Va., wrote to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel this week urging the administration to take reconciliation off the table as an "important show of good faith to Republicans and the American people."

"The existence of any kind of backroom health care deal among the White House and Democratic leaders would certainly make a mockery of the president's stated desire to have a 'bipartisan' and 'transparent' dialogue on this issue," Boehner, Cantor, and Pence wrote. "To ensure we can move forward in good faith, we ask that you publicly disavow these reports and assure the American people that Democratic leadership is not putting together any kind of backroom health care deal or plotting any kind of legislative trickery to pass it."

VAT: Good Thinking Obama!

Value-added tax is seriously being considered by the Obama Administration as a means of scamming the American public out of money to fund health care and line its pockets. Obama is coming through the back door because he has been unsuccessful in getting health care reform the way he originally wanted it. Don't let any one tell you it is a tax only on the isn't. Below is a clip from The Washington Post describing the process:

'A VAT is a tax on the transfer of goods and services that ultimately is borne by the consumer. Highly visible, it would increase the cost of just about everything, from a carton of eggs to a visit with a lawyer. It is also hugely regressive, falling heavily on the poor. But VAT advocates say those negatives could be offset by using the proceeds to pay for health care for every American -- a tangible benefit that would be highly valuable to low-income families.

Liberals dispute that notion. "You could pay for it regressively and have people at the bottom come out better off -- maybe. Or you could pay for it progressively and they'd come out a lot better off," said Bob McIntyre, director of the nonprofit Citizens for Tax Justice, which has a health financing plan that targets corporations and the rich.'

They can set the percentage of VAT wherever and whenever they want. This will only hurt the economy as buyers will stop buying the products that keep us employed, putting more people out of work.

A VAT, like most taxes, distorts what would have happened without it. Because the price for someone rises, the quantity of goods traded decreases. Correspondingly, some people are worse off by more than the government is made better off by tax income . That is, more is lost due to supply and demand shifts than is gained in tax. This is known as a deadweight loss. The income lost by the economy is greater than the government's income; the tax is inefficient.

Once again, it's time to vehemently protest this slight-of-hand move by Osama Obama. Yell & scream at any forum held by these socialists and embarrass them into altering their course to our way of thinking; the way most real Americans think.

Administration's Achievements

Now, the Obama-Biden pair that opposed the Iraq war and its tactics and predicted their failure is prepared to accept credit for its success.

It seems that Biden, who's from Delaware when he's in Delaware and Pennsylvania when in Pennsylvania, is certain now that Iraq will turn out to be one of the Obama-Biden administration's greatest achievements.

No, really.

Here's how Biden put it to Larry King on CNN:
I am very optimistic about -- about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.

I spent -- I've been there 17 times now. I go about every two months -- three months. I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society. It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences.

Biden did not elaborate on what all the administration's other "great achievements" were so far.

Obama The Post Turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his role as our president.

The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''..

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him, what a 'post turtle' was.

The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with'.

Thank you Pete P

Arab/Islamic States Consistently Vote Against U. S. In United Nations

This was gathered on the internet in 2003 and verified on Snopes, but is worth repeating because nothing has changed:

How they vote in the United Nations

Below are the actual voting records of various Arabic/Islamic States which are recorded in both the US State Department and United Nations records:

  • Kuwait votes against the United States 67% of the time
  • Qatar votes against the United States 67% of the time
  • Morocco votes against the United States 70% of the time
  • United Arab Emirates votes against the U. S. 70% of the time.
  • Jordan votes against the United States 71% of the time.
  • Tunisia votes against the United States 71% of the time.
  • Saudi Arabia votes against the United States 73% of the time.
  • Yemen votes against the United States 74% of the time.
  • Algeria votes against the United States 74% of the time.
  • Oman votes against the United States 74% of the time.
  • Sudan votes against the United States 75% of the time.
  • Pakistan votes against the United States 75% of the time.
  • Libya votes against the United States 76% of the time.
  • Egypt votes against the United States 79% of the time.
  • Lebanon votes against the United States 80% of the time.
  • India votes against the United States 81% of the time.
  • Syria votes against the United States 84% of the time.
  • Mauritania votes against the United States 87% of the time.
U S Foreign Aid to those that hate us:

  • Egypt, for example, after voting 79% of the time against the United States, still receives $2 billion annually in US Foreign Aid.
  • Jordan votes 71% against the United States and receives $192,814,000 annually in US Foreign Aid.
  • Pakistan votes 75% against the United States
and receives $6,721,000 annually in US Foreign Aid.
  • India votes 81% against the United States and receives $143,699,000 annually.

Perhaps it is time to get out of the UN and give the tax savings back to the American workers who are having to skimp and sacrifice to pay the taxes (and gasoline).

Thanks Chuc-K

Moon Base Alpha: If Not U.S., Then Who?

Well, at least Obama's divided on this one: further moon missions sponsored by the United States or leaving up to private industry to pursue. I think for the government to abandon the program fully, at this time, is a mistake, however. Just think of the number of businesses that supply the space program and employee thousands of people. Here are just a few of the advances brought about by space exploration:
  • Computers
  • GPS
  • Kevlar
  • Cordless power tools
  • Home insulation
  • Smoke detectors
  • Laser heart surgery
  • LEDs (light emitting diodes)
  • Computer-operated prosthetics
Advances would still happen in the private sector, but at a much slower rate...well, knowing how governmental agencies work, maybe not.

China is advancing at a rapid rate and will surpass U.S. in space exploration & moon colonization efforts. Once they get there, the moon will be theirs, not ours. That would spell disaster for the rest of the world. It's not too farfetched to imagine China claiming it as their own. Although it might be a good idea to send some of their over-population there.

New Mt. Rushmore Carving

This is absolutely appalling! Look what they've added to Mount Rushmore. I thought it was a little strange when I heard there was a 100-ton chunk of coal headed toward South Dakota on I-90 recently.

I Kill You!

Thanks to Jill L for this one:

Two Muslim mothers were sitting in a cafe chatting over plates of tabbouleh and two pints of goat's milk. The older of the two pulled a bag out of her purse. She started flipping through photos. Together, they started reminiscing.

"This is my oldest son, Mujib. He would have been 24 years old now."

"Yes, I remember him as a baby."

"He's a martyr now."

"Oh, so sad Dear."

"And this is my second son, Khalid. He would have been 21."

"Oh, I remember him. He had such curly hair when he was a baby."

"He's now a martyr."

"Oh, gracious me . . . "

"And, this is my third son. My baby, my beautiful Ahmed. He would have been 18."

"Yes, I remember when he first started school."

"He's a martyr also."

After a pause and with a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looked wistfully at the photographs. Searching for the right words she said, "They really blow up so fast, don't they?"

Pelosi Pole Vault

Pelosi Declares ObamaCare War On Americans

ALERT: Far left liberal Pelosi ignored America and unleashed her new strategy for passing ObamaCare. Declare War on the GOP and Force ObamaCare on America.

Pelosi said, "We (Liberal Democrats) will go through the gate," "If the gate is closed, we will go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we will pole vault in. If that doesn't work, we will parachute in. But we are going to get health care reform passed for the American people for their own..." (GOOD?)

This is an actual photo of Nancy trying to pole vault. Next it will be pole dancing....ugh!!! Can you picture that?
